In 1920s Shanghai, Chai Shap-chat (Wayne Lai) struggles with debt until he's called upon by Wing Yip Bank principal Tang Kwai-sim (Nancy Wu) to help manage a banking crisis. The two form an unlikely partnership, with Shap-chat being supported by the Kwais, a family well-versed in the restaurant business. Meanwhile, Kwai Fa-heung (Hera Chan) reconnects with her old crush, Wai Ho (Joey Law), who is secretly a gangland hitman.
